Too Hot For Pants

I think that says it all, really.

(For any Americans passing through, 'pants' here means 'underwear' not the leg-covering garment we call 'trousers'.)

My cats think it's too hot for fur. But there isn't much they can do about it!

But... the stickiness... the sweat...

Or in other words, eeuuww.

Womag: practical, I would have said.
Helen: so do mine, they come in and lie around languidly, looking winsome.
BS: I have to say that for me, no pants = no stickiness or sweat, although it only works with skirts or loose cotton trousers, but that's OK because I don't want to wear jeans in this heat anyway.

I'm loving the heat!! Living in Bangkok has turned me into a big jessie (and I wasn't that keen on the cold to begin with!!) so I'm finding this temperature just lovely!!

oh Queenie, you are so right. All I want to do is lie on a rock somewhere and bask...

I heard on the radio (so it must be true) that we get it all wrong in this country: Windows should only be opened at night to let cool air in, otherwise they just let the warm air in and make the house hotter. During the day curtains should be drawn (and shutters, not that anyone has those - except in Edinburgh for some reason) and the house shut down.

But also... you should wear more clothing, not less. Something to do with sweating and air rising, as well as protecting the skin from sun. Loose clothing is the thing, and also black is (weirdly) good, because it absorbs heat from your body and draws it out.

So the windows were open all night, and today I have the windows closed and am wearing loose clothing all over, and have a fan by my desk (blowing in my face - it's lovely), and actually feel rather pleasant! Amazing.

I love the heat as well. Glad you've found a way to enjoy it, BS!

Ooh I say! Not even those big French knickers??

Too hot for both kinds of pants :-)

Karen: what big French knickers? I was wondering, from what BS said, whether loose ones might work - but then I thought, why bother with an extra layer when the mercury is off the scale.
Tam: dead right!
